Tooloat

File tools that run on your device

Convert images, merge and compress PDFs, trim video and format code, all inside this browser tab. No signup, no watermark and no size limit set by a server, because there is no server.

Tooloat runs in your browser and needs JavaScript. It opens in a moment, and your files are processed on your device.

Check that nothing leaves your device

  1. Open the developer tools of your browser and switch to the Network tab.
  2. Convert a file with any tool on this site.
  3. Watch the list. Nothing is sent, and the counter here stays at zero.

How privacy works here

Convert between the formats you use

From drop to download

  1. Drop your files. Drag in one file or a whole folder. Tooloat recognises the type from the file contents, not only the extension, and suggests the right tool.
  2. Adjust the settings. Pick a format, quality or size. Heavy work such as video encoding and AI runs in the background with its own progress bar.
  3. Download the result. Results save straight to your device. Batches arrive as one ZIP, so a hundred files are still a single click.

Built differently from upload-based converters

  • Nothing is uploaded. Your files are processed by code running in this tab. The published site blocks connections to every other server, and the counter in the top bar shows how many bytes have been sent, which should stay at zero.
  • No limits, no watermark. Upload based converters cap file sizes and stamp results because every job costs them server time. Here your own device does the work, so there is nothing to ration.
  • Fast because it is local. There is no upload or download wait. Engines such as MozJPEG, PDF.js, WebCodecs, ONNX Runtime and Tesseract run on your CPU or GPU through WebAssembly and WebGPU.
  • Batch by default. Drop as many files as you like. Every file based tool converts the whole queue and packs the results into one ZIP.
  • Works offline. After a tool has loaded once it keeps working without a connection, which helps on planes and on locked down networks.
  • Free and account free. There is nothing to sign up for and no trial that ends.

Questions and answers

Is Tooloat really free?

Yes. There is no account, no watermark and no daily limit. The tools run on your own device, so there is no server bill to pass on.

Are my files uploaded anywhere?

No. Files are read into your browser memory and processed there, and the results are saved with your browser download. The published site also tells the browser to refuse connections to any other server, apart from the one-time model download that the AI tools need.

How can I check that nothing is uploaded?

Open the Network tab of your browser developer tools while you convert something, or watch the bytes sent counter in the top bar. You can also switch off your internet connection after a tool has loaded and keep working.

Which file formats are supported?

Images: JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, HEIC, GIF, BMP and SVG. Documents: PDF, Excel, CSV, JSON, YAML, XML and Markdown. Media: MP4, MOV, WebM, MKV, MP3, WAV, FLAC, OGG and M4A. Archives: ZIP, TAR and GZ. Each tool page lists what it reads and writes.

Is there a file size limit?

Tooloat sets none. The practical limit is the memory of your device, so a phone handles fewer very large files than a desktop. Processing big batches in smaller groups always works.

Does it work offline?

Yes. Once a tool has loaded, it keeps working without a connection. The AI tools also need their model file, which is saved after the first download.

Which browsers and devices work?

Current versions of Chrome, Edge, Safari and Firefox on desktop and mobile. The video and audio tools use WebCodecs, which needs a reasonably recent browser, and the AI tools are fastest on devices with WebGPU.

What is the difference from other online converters?

Most online converters upload your file, process it on their server and send it back, which is slower and puts private files on a computer you do not control. Tooloat does the work locally, so it is private by design and has no size limits or watermarks.
